Re-creating

Skylar stood outside the glass door fighting with herself. She knew she had to do it, what if she ran into someone who recognized her? This was the second to the last step to creating her new life. But somehow, it felt wrong. She ran her fingers through her jet black hair. Sighing, she sat down on the bench in front of the salon. What was she going to do when she changed her name?

Removing her fingers, Skylar looked down the street. Random people were just passing by. They had no idea that the girl sitting there was a Mutant with a haunting past. How would they? Nothing on the outside showed any signs that she was different than them. Frowning, she turned her head to look down the other side. At first, the scene was the same, but then she saw something moving quickly from the park. Her eyes widened as Skylar's unblood twin dame bolting down the sidewalk with a black eye, split lip, and blood splashed on her shirt. "What's wrong Loika?" Skylar asked her roommate, grabbing her by her arms as she came at her.

Loika had been running since the park. She hadnt heard any sirens....yet. She kept running and she wasnt sure how long she had been running until she passed her roomate at the nail salon. "Damn i forgot. Last she knew i was in bed sleeping." She thought to herself. She skidded to a halt when sky grabbed her and tripped over her own feet. She face planted to the ground with a small thud. Her sides heaved heavily as she panted for air. She tried not to look up at sky. " Um... just out for a run?"She tried to say with a smirk but winced when it re split her partially healed lip.

"Where? The track of hell?" She asked as she stared at her roommate on the ground. Bending down, she grasped her arms and pulled her up before setting her on the bench. "What were you doing?" There were so many things going through her mind, but one thing stuck out. Loika had obviously been into some sort of fight, which meant she probably had gone wolf. Great.

Loika started to cry, and for the first time didnt care if someone saw her doing it. The tears mixed with the blood on her face and seemed to make more of a mess than anything. She sat her backpack on the ground next to her feet and pushed her hair out of her face. " I went to the park to think. I didnt know how i ended up there but i did. I ran into zero... hes a guy that helped me when i first got here. Anyways we laid in the grass and talked for a while. Like the freak that i am i told him i liked him. We talked more and eventually i actually shifted in the park."
She buried her face in her hands and cried a little harder." Some guys playing baseball saw us and started yelling slurs at me and came at us."She looked up at Sky with a hint of hurt mixed with fear. " I didnt mean to... but i attacked him. I tore his arm up pretty bad before i was beaten off of him. I didnt know what to do so i shifted back, threw my clothes on... and ran." She wiped the tears off of her face. " Not before i kissed zero though. I think i hurt that boy i attacked bad. Hes gunna have to go to the hospital i know it. Im so screwed! they are gunna put me back in a cage i know it! Why am i so stupid!"She started to get worked up again at the thought of being put back in a cage.

Taking the edge of her shirt Skylar wiped the tears and blood off of Loika's face. "Hey, calm. Freaking out isn't going to help. If anything it's gonna make it worse. You don't need to be shifting again out in the middle of so many people. Come on, it's ok." She smiled slightly, hoping that it would have a positive affect on her almost hysterical roommate. Looking through the window, she grunted."Hey, let's go get you cleaned up." Skylar stood and moved towards the door.

Loika seemed to calm down a bit when Sky spoke to her. Deep down she knew the other girl was right. Shifting in public was gunna help anyone and she already was going to have to explain herself to school when she got back. A mutant attacking a human was sure not to stay quiet for very long.
She held in any more sobs and quietly wiped her her face as she sniffled and followed her roomate into the salon door.

Inwardly wincing as the fumes struck her in the face. Skylar looked back at Loika and smiled encouragingly. This'll be fun, she tried to tell herself as she walked up to the counter. The lady behind the counter had puffy red hair, bright eyeshadow, and long nails the color of blood.

"What can I help you with?" she asked, moving her gum to the side of her mouth long enough to get the words out.

"Uh, I need my hair dyed, and she needs-" Skylar glanced over at Loika. She was a complete mess, although she could see her lip healing. "Why don't you give her the works?" As the lady tapped at the buttons on the register Skylar gave her the card.

"Thanks doll. Go ahead and take a seat by the sinks and we'll get started on your hair." She said, handing back the card.

"Ok," Skylar said nudging Loika towards the seats. The chairs were cushioned, so it was easy to relax as a girl started to work on her hair.

Loika was already feeling tense. No one had ever washed her hair before. Probably when she was a baby but then again why would she remember? Her hair was incredibly long. Down a little past her butt. She could see the girl starting to work on her hair make a face at the length of it. Her face slowly changed when she actually began to work on it. " Wow your hair is really soft...and theres barely a tangle in it. You must brush it alot." She giggled. Loika squirmed uneasily in her chair. " Uh, yea no not really...It stays pretty straight." The lady smiled and looked at her skeptically. " Lucky for you then." She said before continuing to wash her hair.

Skylar was patient as the girl took the top layer of her hair and started to wrap it in the foil and dye. "So, this is fun," she said sarcastically. She wasn't much for spa days, or girl days period. Playing sports, fishing, and anything that involved getting dirty was more her type of fun. By what she had seen of Loika, she seemed to feel the same way.

The girl working on Loika seemed to be right out of a goth magazine. She wore a tripp tank top, tripp skirt, and leather boots. All of the piercings in her face only seemed to distract a little from the colors that streaked her hair. She crossed her arms across her chest then tapped a comb against her chin as she stared at Loika while thinking. " We could cut it short in a pixie cut-" Loika startled in her chair and her eyes went wide. " oooor we could not" The girl said and went back to thinking. " How about we trim the ends, give you some swift cut bangs, and put some pretty blue streaks in your hair? Ones that match your eyes."
Loika audibly swallowed and nodded her head. "That doesnt sound so bad....you can still do the pixie cut if you want i guess. It doesnt sound too bad." She wasnt about to tell the lady it would grow back in no time. instead she sat still while the girl worked on her hair.
After getting her hair the length she was happy with, the lady stopped in a mid cut and smiled. " Woa, totaly like your tat back here girl." Loika tried not to let the pain and anxiety show on her face. " Yea, its from a mistake from loooong ago."The girl smiled and continued cutting. " Arent they all sugar. Lemme guess, it was cause of a guy?"
Loika nodded. " You could say that."

The girl working on Skylar's hair obviously wasn't one for talking. She just angerly finished with the bleach and showed her to a heater. "Sit," she commanded pointing to the chair bellow it. Smiling as sarcastically as she could paint on her face, Skylar plopped down onto the chair. The girl returned the look and pulled down the heater. "Stay," she said, pushing a button that started the machine before walking off. "K!" Skylar called, sitting back in the seat. Great, I feel like a dog. I bet this is what Loika feels like. The thoughts reminded her of her roommate. She looked over to where another girl was chopping off Loika's hair. Oh my.

Max sat in the chair and let the girl work on her hair. Even as the girl commented on her serial bar code tatoo on her neck. If only the girl knew how real that tat was. She sat still as the girl stripped color from strips of her hair and began to put color in. She wondered if the girl really could match the blue of her eyes.

After a while the girl came back and lifted the heater off. Without saying a word, she walked back to the chair and beckoned Skylar to follow her. Skylar put a saracastic smile on her face and hurried over. The girl put a quick coat of blue in some of the white hair and showed her back to the heater. Skylar sighed and sat back, wishing this would be over soon. She was ready to get back to the group and the academy.

Max was sent to the dryer shortly before sky returned. She shyly kept looking at the floor till her friend returned. Shed never done anything pampering for herself ever. She definitely wasnt used to the short hair. She waved shyly when sky returned to the dryer next to her. When she smiled she slightly split her lip again and cursed herself for doing it again. " Thanks sky... i think i needed this. Yur a pretty good roomate. You arent gunna tell on me are you?"

Chuckling slightly, Skylar shook her head. "No, but you're going to have to think of something to explain you absense for Volt's class." She bent her arms and crossed them in front of her, cracking her upper back. "And thanks, you're a pretty good roommate yourself." Smiling, she closed her eyes for a moment before opening them and turning back to Loika. "So who was they guy in the park?"

Trane was walking down the street looking around to make sure that he hadn't been followed, seeing that he didn't know anyone around he let out a quick sigh of relief. His pulled his hat down lower on his head, the wild curly mane that he called hair was starting to peek out from under the hats border. Not fifty feet from from him was polished, the salon he had heard about. He slowly walked closer to the door, He didn't like barber shops. Salons treated you better, he ducked inside and hoped nobody saw him. He needed a new look, to help him with the fresh start he was aiming for. He was a mutant plain and simple, his life was hard but he knew it would get better when he didn't exist anymore and the new him would be born from the ashes.

Loika blushed and looked down at her feet. She wasn't sure of how to explain things to her roommate. And she knew she was right about having to talk to volt about skipping his class. She was going to have alot of explaining to do do all around. " He's...a guy i met when i first got here in Atlanta. He helped me and even saved me from a possible death." She blushed a bright shade of pink as she thought back on the times she spent with the boy who called himself Zero.

Skylar let out a whistle and raised her eyebrows. "Really? Maybe this guy should come see about getting a teaching job at the school. You guys could see each other more often then." She gave a mischievious smile and settled back into her chair. After a minute she turned back to Loika. "So, what's his name?"

"His name is Zero. Thats all i really know."She giggled and tried to control the stupid grin that was spreading across her face. She was excited about this guy... but at the same time...Her smile faded. She couldnt see him again. not after she almost killed someone in front of him. She started to say something else when she felt her senses pick up. A couple of new people entered the salon.
She watched both of them intently even as her hairstylist came back for her and helped her remove the foil. Her hair had brilliant streaks of blue in it. The same color of her eyes. The stylist smiled and styled her pixie cut into a few little spikes here and there. She felt like she was being watched.
" Pretty hair on a pretty girl. So tell me...where you from pretty girl? And where would you like to go?"The blonde boy smirked at her with a lopsided smirk that probably worked on alooot of girls. He was dressed in designer ripped jeans made to look old on purpose, a white shirt, and a black jacket. The only interesting thing about him was one green eye and one blue eye. The hair stylist must have assumed Loika knew the boy because she smirked and became very interested in sweeping up hair.

He walked farther in and told the lady that he had an appointment, he saw the two girls sitting in the chairs and he gave them a quick smile. The blue pixie cut one was quite cute, he blushed slightly and took his seat 2 stalls away from them.

"I'll have it cut shorter in the back and taper it in the front. I'd also like to streak my hair with silver, if you wouldn't mind,"He had the stylist bend over so he could whisper into her ear. "I'd also like to know more about those two girls over there" It was at this time he noticed the guy talking to the pixie girl and he didn't like that. He let out a small growl that you could just hear if you were listening

Finally the girl came and took Skylar out of the chair. She was just finished washing and it as the blond boy started talking to Loika. She smiled to the girl, gave her the tip, and walked over to her roommate. "Buzz of creep; we're not interesting in the cheap crap you're selling." Skylar turned to Loika and rolled her eyes. "You about done? I need to be getting back to the zoo before the kids find out I was breaking my own rules." She looked back at the boy out of the corner of her eye. He wasn't too bad looking, but she wasn't into guys like that.

Loika was thankful her roomate returned for her. The guy looked nice but he reeked of trouble. She was already resisting the urge to growl at this guy. When he reached out to touch her hair she made a point of very obviously pulling away and stepping closer to Sky. She kept her eyes on the guy as she spoke to sky. " I-im ready when you are.Lets get out of here."
The guy took out his keys and twirled them on his finger. Still smirking with a lopsided grin that would make most girls melt. " I was just coming in here for a haircut...but if you ladies would like a ride somewhere...It would be ungentleman like of me not to offer you a ride." He reached out and touched Loika's still healing black eye. " And from the looks of things you have had enough trouble for one day."
Loika pulled away again and growled under her breath. " We didnt ask for your help."

Skylar clenched her fist. "I suggest you leave turn around and walk away before you learn not to mess with just anyone." She could feel the heat and energy pulsing into her closed hands. If he made even one wrong move he would be blasted into the back wall. Grabbing Loika's upper arm, she paid for the hair dye and left, draggin her roommate behind her. Please don't follow us.

Loika squeaked subtly as her roomate pulled her along. The boy smelled different than most people. She couldnt exactly say, but her senses were telling her that he was a mutant like them. She didnt want to jump the gun and tell sky just yet. But she wondered when she should.
She was trying to get her roomate's attention when the man followed them out of polished. He was walking behind them.... almost strutting really. She started to speak up when she heard the man again.
" Iv'e seen girls play hard to get with me, but never this hard. Admit it little lady."He walked up behind the girls and whispered in Sky's ear. " Admit it, you totaly want me. Lets ditch the cutie and go somewhere else."

Rage, pure rage, filled Skylar as he whispered. She let go of Loika's arm, spun on her heels, pulled her arm back, and punched him in the face. "There, you creep, now your eye matches hers." She spit at his feet before looking back up. "You ever do that again and you will see how hard I can really play." Skylar could feel it, heat and energy pumping through her. She felt as if she was about to explode.Trying to shake it off, she put her hands, balled in fists, over her temples and focussed on something good. It was no good though, she was going to go off, and there was nothing she could do. Someone, help me.
