| As the spring sun rises to the middle of a blue sky its bright rays shine down onto a crowd of people gathered in Atlanta’s city square. On the steps stands the mayor, and beside him, a blue man. A tail slightly protrudes from under his coat, and his two-fingered hands are clasped together in front of him. Every camera crew in town has come to film this event. When all the noise had lowered to a dull roar, the mayor bent into the mike. “Georgia has always been supportive of Mutants, and we are extremely proud to be hosting a very special member of Xavier’s group today.” Cheers rose up from the people, causing the mayor to stop and wait until they had quieted again to continue. “Nightcrawler has arrived here in our own Atlanta for a very special reason, so I ask that everyone keep quiet so that he may tell everything he has too with no interruptions.” He turned to the blue man and gave him a nod, signifying that it was his time to speak. As Nightcrawler took his place at the podium, anticipation thickened the air, and a dead silence engulfed everyone. “Xavier is very grateful to Georgian state for its support, and hopes that this friendship can last for the years to come. As you all know, Xavier started a school as a haven for the Mutants of the world, and it has been successfully teaching them to control their abilities. He has come to realize, however, that there are many more Mutants than the ones attending his school, more so than we could imagine, and they will not all be able to fit into one building. Thus, he is sending some of his senior members to develop like schools around the country, and one day, around the globe for those who cannot join as at the head mansion. Xavier has sent me to present this to the Georgian government in hopes that they may allow us to build one of these schools here. Fortunately for us, they have agreed.” Short intakes of breath spread like a wave across the crowd. “Can you really do that?” asked a small voice from somewhere in the throng. “Of course, it’s like any other school being built,” Nightcrawler answered. A report from the side brought her microphone close to her lips, “But it’s not. These are Mutant schools, next to our children’s school. What’s to say that if something attack you that it won’t go for them as well?” Nightcrawler took a breath as the microphone came back to him. “The area in which the school will be placed is a good distance from the other schools of Atlanta.” “So you don’t deny that the normal children could be harmed because of this school?” “No, that is not what I said. I will admit that there have been attacks on the school before, but our students are trained well enough that they are able to defend and push back the invaders with little damage.” Suddenly all the reporters pushed forward, asking questions all at once. “Please, you and your children will be more safe with us here than before.” Barely seconds had gone by before a loud crash coming from behind city hall began to ring through the square. Heads turned to watch as a robot man as large as the building came towards the crowd. There was a moment of stunned silence before chaos broke loose. Screams erupted, and everyone ran in all different directions. Nightcrawler watched as the sentinel came closer, his thoughts running wild through his mind. How was he going to stop this by himself? | |

| Lynx peered over around another brick building. There so many of them in the city. Seeing that the streets were empty, she moved back into the shadows. She walked along the alleys, searching for some form of life. Finally she came to a building where a TV was illuminating a window on the bottom floor. Quietly, Lynx made her way up to the window and peered in. The room was dark, with no light besides the sun. Trash covered the stained carpet and splashes of sticky-looking goo stuck to the peeling pain. A women was unsuccessfully trying to tidy up, while a balding man sat in a chair neer the TV.
"Do you hear that, Jen? This thing wants to set up a school in our town for those filth!"
"Now, Greg, his name is Nightcrawler, and Mutants aren't as bad as you think," replied his wife.
"How could you say such a thing? All they do is cause trouble!" Greg exclaimed.
Lynx did not hear any more of the conversation, she was focussed on the television. A blue man was talking about a school being established in Georgia for Mutants. A smile played across her lips. She looked at the building behind him, looking for an indication of where they might be. 'City Hall' was written in plain letters on the threshold above him. I've got to get to the square. Focusing her energy on her legs, Lynx sped off. As the tall shapes blurred past her, all she could think about was how great it would be to have a place to stay and practice. Suddenly, there was a crash. Then another. And yet another. Screams pierce the air up ahead. Lynx urged her legs faster. Just then the edge of the forest of houses came into view, as well as the cause of the screams. A sentinel was looming over the building, staring its ugly robotic head down at Nightcrawler. Lynx stopped dead, ideas running through her mind. She had to help, but how would two Mutants beat this?

| Ghost stood in the the crowd listening to the announcement. He was near the back just outside an alleyway. He had only come to make sure things went smoothly as he had seen before how quickly anything involving mutants could go, so when a giant robotic head appeared over the building he couldn't say he was too surprised. Sentinels had been hunting mutants for years, even if the governments official stance on mutants was "positive" it didn't prevent people from within from taking their own actions.
Ghost was an experienced fighter, had seen more then his share of fighting in fact but even he was unsure he could take a Sentinel down solo...but he would definitely give it a go.
He stepped back into the alley disappearing into the shadows the noon day sun cast, reappearing up on stage next to the blue furred mutant
"Get out of the way"
His voice came out slightly distorted through his mask but clear enough to understand as he pushed Nightcrawler away the robot's hand closing around him and lifting up. To anyone it would have looked as though he had been captured but as the hulking bucket of bolts opened its hand there was nothing there.
Ghost popped back into sight standing in the same spot he had been
"Going to have to do better rust bucket"
Ghost was confident but he knew on his own things would be difficult, but then he was used to that

| Blair stood silently behind a tree, clutching her notebook tightly to her chest, watching the mayor and blue mutant give their speech. She couldn't help but smile as she heard the news of them building a school for mutants. It was then that fear arose in her eyes, as she heard the loud crash come from behind City Hall. Blair watched, as the giant robot stepped forward.
Blair took a step back, watching the robot reach for the blue mutant, Nightcrawler. It was then that a man jumped up to help fight it off. Blair watched in awe as the man escaped the clutches of the robot; boasting confidently on the stage.
Taking a step forward, Blair knew she had to do something to help; helping would be the right thing to do. Though what could she do? She wasn't the offensive type, and this was definitely a fight...

| A smile grew as Lynx watched the man in black slip from the sentinel's grasp. She wasn't sure how he did it, but the only way would be Mutant abilities. There's got to be more in the crowd somewhere. Lynx scanned the fleeing people for anyone who could be different. There was a girl with dark hair standing still. A red headed lady was throwing her head desperately from side to side. Finally a man with sandy hair caught Lynx's eye. His skin was changing in ways that weren't normal. She ran as fast as possible with using her telekinesis, saving her energy in case she needed it later.
As she ran, a plan began to form. Maybe if she could get up to the robot's head, she could negociate with it; or find its 'brain'. Either way, it wouldn't hurt to try.
"Can you help?" she asked, approaching the man.
Jumping a little, he turned to look at her. Seconds went by with eternity before he nodded his head.
"Ok, then lets go." She moved towards the building, but was stopped by a sticky hand on her shoulder. Without saying anything, the man picked her up, bent his legs, and jump. It took one leap to reach the steps. Planting her feet on the ground, Lynx shook off the surprise. She dodged to the side as the sentinel, noticing the new comers, swung his giant hand in their direction.

| Ghost didn't take his eyes off the giant robot even as two more people joined in the fight. He simply assumed they could handle themselves if they were willing to risk their lives. The six foot tall man brought his hand down reaching towards the podium nearby, closing his hand he pulled it away reforming the shadow of the podium into a pitch black sword.
"Let's go"
Ghost crouched down pushing forward avoiding giant's hands diving between it's legs bringing the shadow formed sword forward cutting into the metal before turning to face the mutant killer again
"Tougher then expected...need a weak point"
Ghost had more experience fighting people then robots and could only assume the thing had similar weaknesses which would mean most effective place would be the neck to attack to be sure it was stopped permanently.
"You girl..think you and that frog guy can make it up to the head?"
Ghost kept moving trying to keep his power use to a minimum but having to go intangible twice as she dodged
"I'll keep us covered if you can"
Ghost jumped back his black outfit seemed to somehow grow even darker the darkness began to creep out of every corner. From the nearby buildings and trees, even the chairs and the sentinel itself the shadows grew. Ghost dropped to a knee having to exert as much energy as he could having never tried to make something so big before
"Go now"
The entire area was pitch black yet he could see as if the noon sun where still shining he was risking a lot trusting these strangers but he knew all too well what would happen if this fight dragged on and if one of Xavier's people got killed. The balance of opinions on mutants would shift in a hurry and that wouldn't be good for anyone.

| By the time he had said 'go' Tree Frog had already grabbed Lynx and was hopping up the sentinel's leg. Neither of them could see very well through the engulfing darkness, so he had to stop every jump and assess they're positioning before leaping again.
Lynx held still for the first couple jumps, trying to create a resistance to the flopping of her stomache. It didn't help that everything around her was nothing but black. But a few minutes after leaving the ground Tree Frog stopped jumping. Taking it to be the reach of their destination, Lynx shifted herself so that both feet her on the surface. Eyes squinting, she peered around, trying to figure out where they were. With the possibility that she could fall off the edge of the robot, Lynx fell down onto her hands and knees, feeling with her skin and her abilities where she was. Smiling, she reached out her hand and touched the gritty neck of the robot. Now all she had to do was find the right switch.
Susan stood frozen in horror, everything happening in a blur. It was when City Hall was covered in a blanket of darkness that she finally snapped out of it. She was a Mutant, there had to be something she could do to help. Taking a deep breath, she rushed into the heart of the funnel. "Hello?"

| Ghost brought his hands back pulling back the darkness sensing the two he had yelled the command to were in place. Focusing the shadows in his hands before releasing it, the energy dispersing without a trace. He was breathing a little hard from covering such a large area.
Volt hadn't been in the crowd when all the commotion had started. In fact he had been busy trying to get a cute girl to go out with him, but upon seeing the mutant hunter appear over city hall he knew it would only be a time before he was discovered but also knew some mutants would be gathering to stop the thing. It was just what he was looking for, others of his own kind that he could meet. He jumped on his bike and headed off in the opposite direction of the flood of people wondering just what this encounter would bring forth for him

| Just as Lynx reached the head the darkness faded from the sky, allowing her to see. She was right at the back of the neck. Several thick wires stretched from under his back-armor to his helmet, many of them grey while a few there were colored. Now al she had to do was to find out which one will shut the sentinel down. Reaching over, Lynx had barely grazed the first cord before a flood of information came streaming into her mind. Because sentinels were robots, the information was always running through their 'minds', so it was easy to access the information. What wasn't easy was getting it all to stop so she could concentrate on the one thing she needed the most. Finally she was able slow the flow of data and located the wire control center. The blue one to her right would shut the whole thing done, but as she looked it she could help but feel discouraged. It was bigger than the rest of them, and had a thick coverinig over it. If she conjured up one of her blades she could maybe get through, but there was no way the guy on the bottom could hold out that long. Maybe is she had something to amplify it...
As light began to show in the darkness, Susan could see once again the sentinel and the man who had brought the shadows. Gaping up at the robot, she couldn't help but wonder if she could keep a robot under her control as well as humans.

| Volt skidded to a stop when he reached city hall. Tilting his head up his eyes stuck on the robot. "Ok...much bigger up close" He wasn't as eager to face the thing has he had been across town but he was here now and couldn't in right conscience turn back now. He could just make out two people near the top of the thing a little amazed they got all the way up there. Jumping off his bike he looked around for something to use to bring out his power finding a broken iron rod laying on the ground "This should do" he smiled a little picking it up as he felt his body charge the hunk of metal with electricity
With two people at the base of the Sentinels head Ghost could feel a strong enough connection that he jumped through the shadow on the ground appearing behind the young girl and the older man "Impressive jumping. Now let's shut this thing down" Again his voice came out distorted, clearly not his natural voice but his tone was serious and clear. He wasn't playing around with this and to him it was more then doing what was right, it was survival and if there was one thing Ghost did it was survive

| Once the shadow man had disappeard Susan felt more strain to keep the sentinel under control. Whatever the others were going to do they needed to do it quickly.
Lynx jerked her head as the man who had just been below appeared beside them. "I can use psi energy to make a knife that will disarm this thing, but it's I need something to make it stronger. I was I could bottle lightning!" she sighed, looking up to the sky and seeing a white cloud pass.

| Ghost was silent for a moment clearly considering their options. He could try cutting the wire himself however without the aid of an electric shock there was a chance the thing could get in one last attack. A calculated risk but one with too much risk
"Will be back" With those words he vanished again popping between the multiple shadows of the gathered people to see if anyone had a power close to what they needed. Surprised when he found someone with nearly the exact power they needed. Explaining the plan to the, what he would describe as overly eager, man
"Just give me the signal and I'll give it my best shot" Volt replied smiling a bit definitely eager to be helping and amazed had how this, admittingly scary looking man, controlled his powers and kept his cool
With the man's agreement Ghost ported back to the pair on the Sentinel is tone still commanding not leaving room for questions
"Plant the knife then back off" He gestured over his shoulder "Will make a signal and he will electrocute the blade. Says he doesn't have full control so we back off to be sure not to be affected in backlash"

| "As long as his aim is accurate, the blade will keep it concentrated in one area," Lynx said. She became suddenly still, her hands out in front of her with palms up. Her mind was focused on nothing but the energy around her, shaping it into a small, black blade. Seconds later Lynx could feel into take form in her hands. A smile spread across her face as she took a quick look over her shoulder beofer turning back and driving the blade deep into the blue cord, causing it to longate so that it reached from one side to the other. Getting up off her knees, she made her way back to the others. "All yours."
Susan's head was starting to ache with the pressure of keeping the robot still. Sooner rather than later she was going to give.

| Ghost watched as the girl formed the blade. Clearly she was a strong telekinetic to be able to manifest her power in such away
"I'm not taking the risk"
With those words he grabbed the two and fell backwards off the Sentinel rushing towards the ground, just before making impact he focused bringing his intangibility into play again phasing the three through the pavement bringing them surface side again just in time to watch a spear od lightning fly towards the robotic neck striking the knife the electricity surged through the machine causing it to spark wildly all over
"Yes!" Volt cheered as he hit the mark amazed he hit the target from so far away on the first try
"EVERYONE DOWN" Ghost yelled the command just as the bots head sparked and spun off flipping in the air before smashing into the pavement

| Lynx gasped as she was thrown backwards into the air. Seconds went by before there was an odd sentation, and they were back on the ground. She was just flopping down when the warning came. I don't know who this guy thinks he, but I am past capable of handling myself! she thought, but she refrained from saying anything out loud so as to not start a fight.
Susan screamed as something grazed her arm and sent her flying backwards. As she lay on the pavement she could feel the blood spilling out. "Help!" she cried.

| Blair watched as everything unfolded. All the fighting and teamwork that took place in such a short time. She gripped on to her notebook even tighter, feeling useless. Fighting definitely wasn't her forte. Blair looked down ashamed as everyone continued to fight against the giant robot. It was then that Blair heard a scream, and a cry for help. Looking around, Blair's eyes fell upon the girl on the pavement, and the blood that was spilling around her. With a gasp, Blair ran towards the girl. She kneeled down beside her, quickly pulling out her notebook. Scribbling something down with incredible speed, Blair turned the notepad to the girl. 'Calm down, I can help.' Blair then set down the notebook, and placed her hands on the girl's arm. Blair's hands began to glow very faintly with a light, as she concentrated on healing the wound. | |

| As Lynx watched pieces of sentinel's head fall from its body, a scream peirced the air from the steps of City Hall. Jerking her head, she saw a girl around her age run to the woman. Conjuring up just enough strength to put speed into her steps, and in no time she was standing over the two. She watched in amazement as the girl's hand began to glow.
An icy chill swept through Susan's body, leaving her paralyzed. Whatever this girl was doing, she hoped it would end quickly. Fortunately, the cold soon was replaced by a warmth that relaxed her muscles. Soon the pain in her arm had gone, leaving only a feeling of exastion. "Thanks," she breathed.

| Blair smiled shyly, and reached over for the notepad. She flipped it open and scribbled again in it. Turning it to the woman, 'You're Welcome. I hope it helped, ma'am.' Blair closed her notepad and gripped it to her chest. Standing up, Blair brushed off her dress. She turned to face the other girl. Blair tilted her head to the side slightly and smiled. | |

| Ghost watched silently as another young girl entered the area coming to the aid of a downed woman. It was clear she had been here the entire time but Ghost knew how hard throwing yourself into a fight could be any was surprised the other younger looking ones had done it so readily. He took a few steps walking over to the fallen Sentinel head and put his hand to it. THe nails of his gauntlet dug into the metal with a light tearing sound as the decapitated head began to turn black and then suddenly vanished from sight
"They can have the body, its useless metal with the brain"
Ghost's voice was a whisper looking around at the rag tag group of mutants that had gathered finally walking over to Nightcrawler and offering him his hand
"Ghost. You need to open a school? I'll keep it safe"
It was clear more trouble was ahead..there was always more trouble that was what h had learned early on. He didn't see himself as some kind of teacher but he knew how to bring out people's need to survive, and with so many young mutants and even the older ones who seemed to lack combat experience it was clear that instinct would need to be brought out in them all.
"Too public here. Should move to more secure and secluded area to continue talks. Mayor approved the school already and looks like you have your first students for it" He gestured over his shoulder to the two 16 year olds.

| Susan sat up slowly, holding her freshly healed arm in her hand.
Lynx smiled at the healer before turning to where the shadow man was talking to Nightcrawler. "If it's a quiet place we're in need of, I've got one."
