Explosive Meetings

A warm feeling crept into her chest, spreading through her limbs. She did her best to cool it down, but was only partially successful. Bright blue light seeped through her fingers and into the visible world. As it shot through the air, the light formed into an arrow, landing in a tree on the other side of the area. Skylar could feel the color flood out of her face. ”Oh no,” she whispered as she watched the tree explode, sending pieces of bark flying in every direction. She raised her hands to her face, only to see another streak of blue into a tree beside the other, causing another explosion. Skylar stood frozen, not wanting to move until the warm feeling had died down. What am I going to do?

Aurora walked around the town, looking for anywhere quiet she could go away from all people. She looked over to her right, seeing a dense forest. A smile slowly crept onto her face as she walked toward the trees, finally glad to be away from everyone. Right before she stepped into the forest, she heard a deafening explosion and saw something explode and send shards of something dark into the sky. As soon as the shards began falling down, there was another explosion recreating the scene all over again. She quickly took off in a dead sprint towards the site of the explosion hoping to help if anyone was there, knowing she herself would not get hurt. Aurora skidded to a halt when she saw a black and blue-haired girl standing there who seemed to be crying with her hands cupping her face.

Taking deep breathes, Skylar was able to calm the warmth down more, until she heard someone come out of the woods. Spinning around, she saw a girl her age dressed in black and staring at her. Suddenly a blue ball came from Skylar's hands and sailed towards the girl at alarming speeds. "No!" she cried.

Aurora's eyes widened in horror as a blue ball of energy came at her so fast she had no time to react. She tried to jump out of the way but the ball was just too fast. It hit Aurora square in the chest, hurling her into the tree behind her. Aurora fell to the ground and groaned, looking back up to the girl who had attacked her. She quickly stood up, crouched slightly, placed her hands to her sides and instantly drew her claws, feeling the slight sting of the skin ripping between her knuckles but paying no attention to it. She stood there, glaring at the girl, prepared to fight.

Skylar looked in horror as the girl was thrown backwards into a tree. But as she got up and withdrew her metal claws she couldn't help but letting out a gasp. Not only was this girl a Mutant, she was a Mutant who thought that she was under attack. "Ok, you've got to listen to me, I really didn't mean to do that. In fact, I didn't mean to do any of this, it was all an accident!" As she talked, she waved her hands to where plots of dirt showed signs of former inhabitants, which was a big mistake. Another ball of light went streaking towards the girl, slower than the first but still faster than normal reflexes could manage.

Aurora stayed silent and growled slightly at the girl. She knew that no one could be trusted, even if they seem to be attacking based on an accident. She saw the ball of light hurling towards her. This time she had time to react. She quickly did a side flip, jumping over the ball of light, seeing it hit and obliterate the tree behind her. A piece of the bark from the tree hit and cut her arm. Aurora quickly looked down seeing the blood and the cut quickly heal and leave no indication that it ever happened. She quickly crouched down slightly and took off running towards the girl, ready to fight her.

Watching the girl's inhuman reflexes and advanced healing made Skylar's eyes widen slightly. Oh I wish I was lucky enough to have those abilites, instead of such distructive ones. She couldn't help scowling as she thought this. There wasn't much time to pity herself, however, because the girl was charging at her. I wish I had a blade. Just as she was about to knocked into, the blue light seeped through her fingers, but instead of creating an explosive ball, it flattened itself into a sword. "Whoa." Gripping the sword firmly in her hands, she held it out in front of her, waiting for the girl to come closer.

Aurora stopped just short of the girl as soon as she had created a sword. She quickly contemplated her options: she did not want to kill the girl but she could not let the girl hurt her either. She smiled slightly as an idea popped into her head. Aurora quickly bent down below the sword and did a sweeping kick towards the girl's feet, hoping to knock her down.

Ghost had felt the explosions from the forest as he walked by. Knowing something was wrong he broke through the trees, his boots thumping against the dirt. He came to a clearing seeing two young girls in the midst of a fight

What is it with this city and young mutants?

He didn't have time to think about it for long seeing one girl was holding back but was out for blood if needed, the other barely in control of herself. A mix that would easily end in disaster if left unchecked

"Stop"

Appearing right in the middle of the two girls grabbing one by the wrist the other by the foot. The figure that stopped them was pure black.

"Both of you calm down"

The voice came from off to the side where Ghost's real body stood the other a fully formed shadow duplicate. As he spoke Ghost stepped into the opening a few rays of sun reflecting off his metal gauntlets.

"I take I have both you're attentions"

Taking a sharp intake of breath, Skylar jerked her arm out of the shadow's grasp. Why are there so many Mutants here? She tighted her grip on the handle of her sword, only to feel it start to fade. No, no, no, no, no! she called inwardly as it completely disappeared. Now what was she supposed to do? No defense, and surrounded by Mutants, I'm in a predicament. She kept glancing from the man to his shadow to the girl and back again. Thoughts of her years of training flashed into her mind, filling her limbs with heat once again.

Aurora quickly pulled her foot from the shadow. She stood up straight and glared at the man speaking, keeping an eye on the girl who was attacking her. She stood silently, claws still out in case she needed to fight but down at her sides for the moment. "What do you want?" She practically spat at the man, ready to fight if necessary.

Ghost turned toward the clawed girl his skull mask staring unblinkingly at her.

"First I want you to calm yourself. From the damage and from what I have seen this girl clearly can not control her power yet. So if she attacked it was obviously by accident." He turned to the other girl "And you calm yourself as well before you have another outburst, one that could be fatal to more then just a tree"

Ghost brought his hands back into his sleeves hiding his gauntlets again as his shadow double vanished

"Now you two can either remain calm and listen or I can make you listen..I prefer the first option"

Although his words were true, Skylar scowled when he mentioned not being able to control her abilities. She had mastered several forms of martial arts and languages, and the fact that she couldn't keep these powers from going hay-wire drove her crazy. Somehow, however, she didn't feel as angry as before, and allowed her muscles to relax and the cool sensation took over her again. "We would have been fine. Miss Anger Issues here can take care of herself, and I'm not helpless either, so we weren't in real need of your help."

Aurora silently glared at the girl before quickly turning back towards the man. Anger issues!!! Of course I have anger issues!!! If they only knew what I have been through!!! Aurora thought to herself before calming down slightly. I can't be mad at them, they know nothing of my past. Aurora thought, disappointed in herself for allowing herself to be mad at complete strangers. "She's right, we didn't need your help." She said calmly, not wanting to cause any more trouble.

"Maybe you would have butt those around you wouldn't have. There is already enough fear of our kind that we don't need two fighting in a wooded area so close to the city..especially one that can't fully control her powers yet. I couldn't care less if you were a trained killer, if you can't control your powers then you are a danger to everyone around you"

Ghost had just left the school and was in no hurry to return so soon

"There is a newly open school for mutants. Clearly I can't force you to go but I would recommend it. They can be of assistance for both controlling your power..and your anger"

With the last comment her glanced at the clawed girl

"And your energy based powers are extremely dangerous not only to others but yourself if you can't control them properly trust me i know. So you can drop the attitude because it doesn't work on me. I gave you your options, the school, or on your own where more then likely you will either hurt someone...or someone will hurt you"

Ghost turned and began to walk away all signs of his guard being down clearly not worried about the girls attack nor seeing them as a threat as he didn't even glance back

There he was again, talking about how she couldn't control her abilities. Skylar glanced at claw-girl and rolled her eyes as the man walked away. "Who does he think he is? Our father?" she whispered. "That academy has been all over the news. I guess it's having it's grand opening today." She had been considering checking it out, but she really didn't want to go by herself.

Aurora stood there quietly, listening to the girl talk as she watched the man walk away. As soon as he was out of sight, she turned to the girl. "We could always go see what it's all about." She said quietly, with a slight shrug of her shoulders. Realizing that all was safe now, she slowly retracted her claws, rubbing her knuckles gently after they had fully retracted, trying to get rid of the sting as the skin healed and the scars disappeared.

Smiling slightly, Skylar nodded. "Hey, you never know, maybe we'll get the chance to actually finish a fight if this thing turns out the way it says on the radio." Now that she wasn't being spiteful, Skylar acutally kind of liked the girl. They seemed to be more alike than just their X-genes. "I'm Skylar by the way."

Aurora smiled slightly. "Sounds like fun to me."She said playfully. "It's nice to meet ya, I'm Aurora."She smiled at Skylar, glad to finally have met someone who wasn't purposefully trying to kill or capture her.
