Welcome One and all to the Blackcat Cafe, I'm am Trane the owner and operator. If theres anything you need we will probably have and if we don't then we can can certainly put it on the menu. No smoking within the building, no driking allowed, and please try to keep down the noise. We are currently hiring two people to work, so if youre intrested please come and apply.

Idleweiss staggers a bit to the side as he travels the sidewalk on tour to his next gig. He was excited, but a little nervous as well. "Teaching position, eh?" He looked over his shoulder at the big bundle of stuff he was lugging with him. He still had a ways to go and felt he needed a break. That's when, like a godsend, his eyes fell upon a cafe down across the street from him. He could feel his hands reaching out towards it, grasping at it as if it was right in front of it. He looks back and forth down the street. This sure wasn't an advantageous time to be trying to cross the street, let alone with his "backpack full of delights".

"This is gonna be tricky," he gripped the straps looping under his arms, determined to reach the little cafe no matter what. As soon as the next car went by..."Now!" He moved but instantly stopped. He backed up again, a little dejected. He gritted his teeth. "Let's try that again." He scanned the road again.

"NOWWW!"

He ran out into the busy road, cars racing before and behind him. He stumbled and spun and staggered on as cars rushed him from one side and then the other. He felt like he was running for a touchdown, but both teams were coming after him. Obviously, this is a much more dangerous situation, though. It was a miracle that he managed to make it half way across the road, considering his big load and his stumbling and such. Now he had the rest of the way to go. He never gave up, though. With all his might, he made it through the rest of traffic and almost collapsed under the shade the building cast.

"Wooo, yeah...made it" he said very low, tired and unenthusiastically, before crawling his way to the door.

Kira had woken up around noon in a foul mood only to discover she was out of coffee in her own home, mood persisting into laziness she decided to instead to go to a cafe so she didn't have to make some herself, plus her coffee was always much too bitter. She had finally gotten a day off from work the first in over three weeks so she felt a good coffee is what she deserved. Kira walked out to her car lighting a smoke before she got in and breathed out a sigh of relief. She started the car and backed out into the street. She hated driving she was probably the worst angry driver she couldn't stand how irresponsible people took driving which is why idiots were always crashing. Kira turned on her GPS system and hit the locations button putting in for a cafe, the first response she got was the Blackcat Cafe, hitting show directions she followed her way there with the annoying automative voice saying 'turn left here' and so on.

Just when she was about there she had to slam on her brakes to avoid hitting some guy making a mad dash across the street. " Jesus, is he trying to kill himself" She muttered angrily to herself. She pulled herself into the parking lot and parked. Her nerves being a little on the frits now she was even more so in a bad mood as she opened her door and started her way to the entrance of the cafe. When she walked in there was that suicide runner she saw standing there, weithout being ablew to control herself she said "Hey, so were you trying to get yourself killed out there?" She might have said this with a little more anger than she should have seeing as he was a complete stranger. Oops too late!

Idleweiss breathed a sigh of relief. He'd made it across unscathed. That relief was covered by guilt almost instantly. Because of his hastiness, he'd put his life as well as the many on the street in unnecessary danger. That wasn't his style, nor was it to just let that kind of thing go. I'll make sure to repay my debt, he thought to himself. One way or another.

Just as his hand reached the door handle, a very threatening voice boomed in his ear. Turning his head towards the owner, his eyes met a young lady around his age and she was fuming at him. He could understand why. She was one of the many inconvenienced faces he captured on his dangerous journey across the street.

The young man had already planned to hunt down every face and make it up to them and already a face had appeared before him. It made him feel a bit better that he could repay a debt this soon.

Pulling the door open, he greeted the woman apologetically,"No, not so much. Though it was a pretty stupid move. I'm really sorry about that." He adjusted the load on his back, which had shifted as he stood there. "If you would allow me, I'd at least like to make up for it. I know a cup of coffee isn't much, but it's a start, right?" Holding the door open for her, he prayed she would accept his offer of reparation. "Will you let me?"

This wasn't the first time that Kira had let her anger get the best of herself, usually she was calm and logical but every once in awhile the stresses that have piled onto her shoulders made her self control weaken. She knew that she should probably just walk away before things got too heated, she hated disturbing the public. She readied herself for the guy to get angry and yell back at her, the plan was to just either flip him the finger or say some smart alec retort then to walk away, just as she was expecting the worse her mind was blown.

Not only had the complete stranger held the door open for her which lets face it not many people guy nor girl do anymore, he also apologized for his actions. Just as her blown mind was about to be peiced back together he blew her mind again by offering to buy her a cup of coffee. Kira usually could rant for hours about how civilization has gone down the tiolet and how no one had any decency left in them, here she had just yelled at the last renegade in manners. "Ummm.... well, okay sure that sounds great" Kira said stumbling on her words," I'm sorry that I yelled at you". She let herself relax seeing as she had tensed herself when she realilzed what she had done.

Kira was not used to such chivalry, and could barely conceal her surprise. Kira didn't know how she felt about letting anyone pay for anything, she had for so long paid her way through life without any help but this guy did seem really sorry. She felt herself start to blush at her lack of anger control, she was embarassed that he was so level headed about her freaking out, when she just jumped the gun on what kind of person he was before meeting him.

"My name is Kira by the way" She wasn't suer whether she should offer her hand or not, she decided she would sticking her hand out awkwardly.

Jason walked down the sidewalk his cane tapping the sidewalk as he moved with confidence belying a blind person, the young teen was excited having moved here to Atlanta and been given money and time to wonder around on his own. Normally his mom would escort him but she had to go for her big job interview so for the time being he was alone. Along the trip he had met a girl who told him of a cafe down the road where he could hangout and meet some people. He thanked her and that was how he arrived at the cafe.

Jason stopped as he heard two people, one a male and out of breath the other a female and obviously upset. for a moment he wondered if it was a couples brawl but the rest of the conversation lead him to believe otherwise. The young man stepped forward. "Um excuse me, could one of you guide me to the door please?" His voice wasn't as confident as his walk, Coming to stand clearer he revealed a fourteen year old boy with messy black hair and a black shirt with a blue tie and grey pants. his shoes were shined and the cane he had was grey with a eye on the top of it. He wore a blindfold that covered his eyes, forehead, and the bridge of his nose.

He took a step forward tapping his cane as he tried to locate the door, this was one issue he always had trouble with. streets, malls, hallways, were easy. It was when he came to places he had to enter that stopped him in his tracks. The young man hoped that one of them would assist.

Idleweiss shook his head at the woman's apology. He didn't see the point in her having to apologize for something he'd caused. He was relieves though. She had accepted his offer and as the twenty-three year old pack mule began to see her in, she extended her hand and introduced herself as Kira. When he saw the hand, he hesitated for a moment before reciprocating her gesture. He figured she wouldn't bite. "Idleweiss. It's nice to meet you, though I wish it'd been on better circumstances," he laughed.

The sound of tapping on the cement drew his attention towards a young boy approaching. The tapping came from the cane he used to guide himself along the walkway. The obviously blind boy called for assistance from the two to reach the door. His eyes were wrapped, no half his face was wrapped. He imagined he had recently had corrective surgery.

It was obvious what they should do. Yelling or calling to him just wouldn't do. It seemed demeaning, like someone saying 'here boy' to their dog. He looked over to Kira, while holding the door. His made an expression that said 'sorry, give me a moment' before heading out to the wandering boy.

"Hey there, buddy. How're you doing today?" Idleweiss spoke to him as he led him in.

Jason smiled turning his head to look at the man who spoke without seeing him. "Oh I'm good and thank you for helping me, Most don't and actually guide me into doors or walls but you get use to it in fourteen years." He allowed the man to lead him inside where he stood and sighed for once again the weight of his disability pushed down on his shoulders. "Look I'm sorry to keep bothering you but could you lead me to a table or a booth please?" His voice was tired as if he had given up being resentful of asking for help and just accepted his fate.

He looked back at the woman and smiled. "I hope I'm not interrupting a date or something, I don't mean to be a bother. Just the seat and I will be fine. Thank you." He turned his head and tapped his cane down hard twice before shaking his head. "Too much noise." He mumbled to himself.

Kira instantly felt a little ridiculous about offering her hand to Idleweiss, she had just yelled at him, but she was relieved that he didn't just shrug her offer off. "Idleweiss? Thats a very unique name." She had never heard a name like that before but found it quite awesome at the same time. In the midst of all that was going on Kira was surprised when she heard the young boy's voice, she started to move forward to help the boy but Idleweiss had beat her to the punch, he definitely was the last man on earth who had any manners, Kira caught herself smiling at him as he helped the boy into the cafe realizing what she was doing she quickly turned her head to the side pretending to look elsewhere, I mean how creepy would it be if some stranger was just randomly smiling like some big loser.

Feeling very useless just standing there she walked to the nearest empty table and pulled out a chair for the young boy. Kira paused when he said date, once again her speech had failed her after a pause she said "Oh no not a date, strangers in fact." She didn't want to say anything wrong some people get embarassed, and she definitely didn't want to offend Idleweiss by saying anything rude seeing as today was 'stick her foot in mouth day'.

And so, the three strangers sat down together. Idelweiss was finally able to rest his arms after removing the large package off his back. "Ah", he stretched before reclining in his seat. The cool air was refreshing coming in from the heat of outdoors.

"Yeah, we just met a moment ago."

A barista came by their table to take their orders. "You guys pick out whatever you like. I'll cover the bill," he said, staring over at his two new acquaintances and then to the guy taking the orders. He was paying for two, so he figured he would at least offer the young man the same. He wasn't one to force things, so rather than that, he decided to go ahead and start ordering.

"I'll have a cappuccino, please," he smiled to the barista. He stared back at the blindfolded kid, who seemed to have similar taste in clothes. "By the way, I never asked your name. I'm Idleweiss and this is Kira". He was uneasy about speaking for others, but it just sort of came out. He had the urge to reach for a handshake up, but he pulled back, having realized he wouldn't see it coming.

Jason smiled and nodded as he sat down and folded his cane sliding it into his pocket. "Oh well thank you, I'll have a Coffee, Black with a scone well buttered and filled with a raspberry jam please, Thank you." He smiled turning his head to the voice. "Oh my name is Jason Black, Thank you for the bill it's not everyday you meet someone who is kind and generous." He turned his head to the woman. "And miss Kira you can relax no one is going to judge you. Your muscles tensed and the way you move tells you that your worried about embarrassing this man, Also when you sat down you shifted meaning you weren't sure how to take this little gathering." he smiled and moved his own hand quickly taking the man's. "It's good to meet you as well Mr. Idleweiss." The movement of your clothes told me you were raising your hand, the swish of your sleeve told me where it was and what you were doing. I may be blind sir but I'm not helpless. It's just doors that give me problems they make no noise." His voice was educated and refined obviously coming from high society and use to manners and knowledge.

Kira sat down next to the guys looked at the waiter " I will have an iced caramel latte please." Kira looked to Idleweiss "Again thank you for this treat" Kira smiled when Jason had started to describe what they were doing by the sounds he was definitely an observant kid, "Nice to meet you Jason, and your quite right I don't know how to take this gathering I'm not used to socializing outside of work, you can say I'm a loner" In fact Kira was more than just a loner she ostricized herself from pretty much everyone, including her family. She found it easier to deal with her ability when no one knew about it. Kira decided to let herself relax, it's not like these guys knew anything about her other than her name.

"So what brings you guys here?" She asked both trying to start up a conversation.

"Interesting," he grinned at the boy who'd accurately described, in great detail, what most average people couldn't see, "You're spot on and I apologize if I offended you." Today was really starting off in an interesting manner. It was days like this that Idleweiss enjoyed.

"Well, I was invited to guest-teach at an upstart school here in town today. I've never actually tried teaching, so I'm curious so see how I do. Anyway, I've been hoofing it for awhile, so you can imagine how tiring it can be." He looked back at the large cache he'd been carrying till now. "I noticed the cafe and well...yeah," he trailed off a bit.

"Anyways, I end my turn. Who would like to go next," He asked in a humorous tone.

Jason smiled. "I shall, Me and my mother moved here from Washington D.C. She finally got the big break she deserved and her first pay was eight digits. Now were living the good life. This is actually my first time out alone, a girl pointed me in the way of the cafe and here I am. that's basically my story up to date." He smiled looking at Kira passing it on.

Kira listened why each of them described what was going on, it seemed weird almost how three complete strangers had just come together one random day and were sitting here like they were friends. To any outsiders view I doubt they would think we were all strangers. "Well, my story is much less impressive then you guys', I ran out of coffee at home and was too lazy to go buy more only to have to go back home and make it. Then well I drove here." She laughed at herself, it sounded even more lazy said out loud. Having finally calmed down after the almost vehicular manslaughter and then verbally attacking of Idleweiss she had realized that she was actually enjoying her time.

As she waited for her coffee she started to tug at the tear in the knee of her jeans, she was excited for her latte it would probably be the treat of the week, or maybe a few weeks. The company she worked for was keeping her quite busy, this might be the last time for awhile she would be able to enjoy herself.

They both seemed like really nice people, though he worried about the boy wearing the blindfold. "You should be a bit more careful. A kid shouldn't be throwing around numbers like that." There's no telling who could have heard him. I don't think he'd enjoy getting mugged or kidnapped on his first day of going solo. He was also relieved to see Kira starting to relax a bit. He'd learned that life was too short to stay down for too long.

Shortly after listening to the two stories, their orders arrived. When Idleweiss took a sip off his cappuccino, he made such a peaceful face, one would have thought he'd ascended into nirvana. After a few seconds, he snapped back to himself. "Ah! Oh sorry about that. I usually don't treat myself out much like this. Makes me more appreciative of things, you know," he smiled as he placed the cup back on the round table.

"How are your coffees? This is my first time here, but so far this cappuccino's been great."

Kira understood exactly what Idleweiss was talking about it definitely was dangerous to be spouting off numbers like that, there were far too many people who would take advantage of him because of that. She knew a few herself, in fact she has worked for a few of those kind of people, a job is a job she told herself. It wasn't really her place to lecture the kid though she never liked being the bearer of bad news however she did nod along to what Idleweiss was saying giving her silent support forgetting momentarily that Jason was blind, however she figure he heard her head nodding but just in case she said "I agree... not very safe".

When their order showed up Kira was glad for the coffee, whenever she went to any type of coffee place she ordered the same thing her iced latte, it didn't matter what the weather was like outside. She once had an iced coffee in Colorado during a blizzard she got some strange looks from people there. It was almost like an addiction when she went too long without it she tended to get very spiteful towards anyone, it had been at least a week since her last iced latte in fact thats probably why she was so rude earlier to Idleweiss, but right now she had her coffee in hand it was heaven. Kira took a drink of her coffee and breathed a sigh of relief when the caramel coffee goodness swam down her throat. She looked up and saw that Idleweiss was having an in heaven moment himself and she smiled at him.


"No worries, I know how you feel" She told Idleweiss " My coffee is just perfect, it beats the home coffee machine I have any day"

"Is that so?"

Idleweiss smiled as he took another sip from his cup. When was the last time he'd sat down like this with friends? When was the last time he'd sat down like this with anyone? No matter, he told himself. Being a drifter like he was didn't leave him time to get attached to anyone. He'd thought of setting up a shop before, but it was always the same deal. Attachments. As a bird, he preferred not to be hold down by gravity.

However, there seemed to be a lot of interesting things going on in this city. His first teaching gig, a chance meeting at a local cafe and yet another special job from a mysterious client. There was also all those people he had to hunt down. All this in the span of two days. Who knows what developments could come next. He began to think it wouldn't be so bad to settle down at his own shop. It was usually a wandering Jack's ambition to own their own agency.

He felt a little embarrassed thinking of such things. Right now, he just wanted to enjoy his break and properly satisfy Kira. He didn't think coffee was enough to accomplish that task. For some people, something like babysitting was enough, while with others, houses got painted or a car tuned up. Though it was tiring, he didn't mind doing those things too much, considering the kind of trouble he may have caused. He was glad this was not a frequent occurrence of course.

"Ah, um..."

His voice hitched. A rare occurrence. "So, I figure a cup of coffee isn't enough to make up for what I did, so is there anything I can do for you?" He rustled around in his pocket, before pulling out a business card. It read "Idleweiss: Professional Jack of All Trades" along with a cheesy slogan along the lines of 'I dare you to find something I can't do' and contact information. He made an awkward chuckle Kira looked over the card. "I'm actually quite versatile, so anything's fine." He hoped it didn't come off the wrong way.

He awoke from his short nap behind the counter and noticed some people sitting at the round table. Brewing a fresh cup of his signature drink, Raspberry dark mocha, he walked over to join the group. He nervously took a seat and sat across from them.

"hi Sup, i'm Trane. It's nice to meet you two, how are you enjoying the coffee? It's a new blend i made from scratch. Anyway welcome, Just so you know i own the place."

" It is so" Kira said as a matter of fact grinning.

The coffee was definitely hitting the spot the more she drank the more calm she felt she really was enjoying this time she was spending here, even with complete strangers. It almost made Kira wonder what it would be like to have a lot of friends or to socialize more often. She didn't really see herself as a people person and was sure that at some point she would offend anyone she became friends with.Kira looked at Idleweiss and it seemed to her that she wasn't the only one with a lot on her mind.

This peace of course would not last long, she felt her pocket vibrate and withdrew her phone, the screen display read one new text message. Kira heard herself sigh, she only knew of two people that would text her, first being her boss and second a possible side job. Neither option sounded good. Opening the message she read it over, her boss was asking her to go into work in three hours they had a new client that needed a translator, so much for having the day off. Kira slipped the phone back into her pocket, she still had at least an hour before she had to be home, she was determined to enjoy the cup of coffee.

Taking a sip from her coffee she almost choked on it when Idleweiss started to talk she was so lost into her own thoughts at that second that she forgot that she wasn't alone. " What do you mean? You have already bought me a cup of coffee and in my mind that is more than anyone would do." Kira didn't know of anything she needed help with however she was enjoying the company. She pondered to herself whether she should ask him to help her with something just to have someone to hang out with again, her isolated lifestyle made lonlieness a reality.

"Well actually.." Kira started but just at that moment another complete stranger sat down at their table. " Oh umm.. Hi Trane I'm Kira, the coffee is great thank you". Kira felt a little overwhelmed with all of the new strangers, it seemed like today was the day for meeting people. Not wanting to be rude but still wanting to talk to Idleweiss she turned her head towards him and said "So you said a Jack of all trades right? How are you with electronics?" Kira didn't really have any broken electronics but she was sure she could find something.

Kira seemed surprised at his proposal. Well, he knew how odd it may have sounded, but even so. As she was answering him, a new face appeared in front of them both, a young man with a cup of joe. By his garb, he appeared to be in the employment of the cafe. Introducing himself as the owner of the establishment, Trane sat down with the two patrons.

Idleweiss was a bit surprised that the owner would come sit with them out of the blue. As Trane spoke about his coffee, he could sense the pride he had contained in his cup. "My name is Idleweiss and you sir brew an excellent cup," he greeted as he turned in his chair for a handshake. As he extended his hand, his attention was drawn back to Kira.

"Electronics, huh? No problem."

He smiled and was quite happy with his achievement of the two complimenting him on his coffee, He listened kira convo using the electrowaves. "i am quite good with electronics if i may help, i maybe able to help with your translator job" He gave a quite sincere smile hoping that he hadn't been revealing to much, shaking idle's hand he watched her stand up

When Trane had said that he could help her with her translator job she was automatically on guard she had not said anything about her job while she had been in the cafe and the fact that he knew she was a translator was saying something. Feeling very insecure with the situation she didn't know how to react to the owner of this cafe. " Umm well the electronic problem I have has nothing to do with my job, and how you know what my job is without me saying anything out loud about it makes me worry so Im going to leave. Idleweiss I have your card I will give you a call thank you again for the coffee see you later"

Kira stood up and started to walk away, she was very private about her life and she made sure that none of her clients would talk about her abilities and her boss would never have shared the information. So because she hadn't said anything she had to believe that Trane wasn't "normal" and in most circumstances anyone she had met that had abilities like herself were not very friendly.

Kira stood up, wearing a tense face as Trane addressed her. Her answer was swift and before Idleweiss knew it, she was out the door. He could understand. Coming out to complete strangers wasn't exactly the best icebreaker. There was also the whole eavesdropping thing. Kira seemed a more private person, so he could see why she was troubled.

He looked back towards the proprietor. "I guess you came on a little too strong," he smirked. "Seriously though, you should probably be a bit more discrete about your gifts and more considerate of others. Never know who you're talking to." He knew Trane meant no harm, but he was pretty absent-minded with his approach. He found it both amusing and worrying how eager young mutants were to share their gifts these days. It was getting to where Little Timmy's introduction was to ignite his hands and call himself Burning Man. He hoped this wasn't a habit.
